Worship & Ministries

St. Matthew’s is a small community, drawn together by the grace of God.  Our members come from area towns around Chatfield like… Marion, Rochester and Chester.

We try to be a caring and supportive family, sharing God’s love in Christ with everyone.  In this extended family, the young can touch the wisdom of the old and the old can share the wonder of the young.

Our worship is based on the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer and includes traditional and contemporary music.

Communion is open to all who are called to the table.

We affirm the ministry of all believers.

We support and nurture each other in our spiritual journeys.

At St. Matthew’s, we have worked hard to empower the lay members of our congregation.  We are proud of the lay leadership and guidance that the members of our congregation bring to the table.  We celebrate that our worship services are blended with both ordained and lay leadership.  The gifts of our members can be seen in their roles as acolytes, chalice bearers, altar guild members, church guardians, intercessors, vestry persons, thurifers, choir members, total ministry team members, Sunday school teachers, licensed lay readers, preachers, readers, greeters, and activity and outreach leaders.

Our Sunday morning Eucharist Service is at 9:30 a.m.

Children’s Sunday School is offered during the service.

St. Matthew’s has monthly activities planned for all its members, but with the children and youth particularly in mind.  It is a time of fellowship and fun.
